Baby Naming Ceremony
A Naming Ceremony is a special and memorable way to introduce and welcome your child and to confirm his or her name (leaving the child to make their own decision about spirituality at a time when they are old enough.)
My role as a Civil Celebrant is to help you to design a Naming Ceremony which is just right for you. I will also be there on the special day to conduct your ceremony in a format that reflects your family's individuality and ensures your child receives a proper welcome into the family and the wider community. As the child (or children) can be any age, a Naming Ceremony is therefore an ideal alternative to a christening, as certain rituals are omitted. It is also ideal for celebrating and welcoming an adopted child or to embrace stepchildren into a new family.
Parents, whether married or
not, or from any cultural background, can arrange a Naming Ceremony. There is no age limit for the child and more than
one child may be named at the same time.
A Naming Ceremony can be held in almost any venue so long as it is suitable for the occasion and can accommodate the number of people attending. For example, in a hall, hotel, restaurant or even your own home!
A Naming Ceremony is a
unique occasion to declare, before family and friends, your promises to be as
good a parent as you can, and for adult friends or relatives to confirm their
special relationship with your child and to pledge their love and support for
your child's future development.
Each Naming Ceremony is specially written by using the family’s own choice of poems, readings and words. This offers you complete flexibility and is structured to meet your needs, wishes and desires as parents.
